What this module covers:
Practical Consultations – Through real-world consultation scenarios featuring experienced clinicians working in hormone health every day, learners develop skills in taking a focused history, identifying patterns of hormonal change across the reproductive lifespan and distinguishing hormonally driven symptoms from primary psychiatric conditions. The module covers the presentation and diagnosis of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), perimenopausal cognitive and mood changes and postnatal mood disorder, emphasising clinical reasoning that moves beyond misattributing symptoms to stress or situational factors toward accurate, individualised decisions.
Consultation Takeaways – Essential summaries and key clinical takeaways provided by Dr Rebecca Lewis. Learners will gain confidence in explaining hormone physiology in a clear and clinically meaningful way, assessing risk appropriately including suicidal ideation in hormonally sensitive conditions and applying a biopsychosocial approach to management. It addresses how to integrate hormonal understanding into everyday practice, equipping clinicians to validate patient experiences and manage ongoing care.
Prescribing Confidence – A focused exploration of the role of hormone therapy alongside, not instead of, traditional mental health care. This section equips clinicians to consider hormone therapy in conjunction with psychological and lifestyle interventions, supporting more effective treatment while reducing inappropriate prescribing and navigating common areas of uncertainty in practice.
Evidence-Based Support – Clear, evidence-based explanations that validate patient experiences and ensure every patient feels heard and supported throughout their journey. By the end of the module, clinicians will feel more assured in recognising hormonally driven presentations, supporting both symptom control and improved patient outcomes through evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Expert Guidance – Led by Newson Education co-founder, GP and hormone specialist Dr Rebecca Lewis, with sessions featuring experienced clinicians to build confidence in tailoring patient advice and developing a more integrated approach to mental health.
